I have been taking pictures since my teenage years. This journey has taken me to many film sets and festivals, backstage of theaters and ballet performances, Liberian presidential elections and Ghana fishermen villages, streets of Paris, Naples, St. Petersburg, and finally New York, where I now call Brooklyn my home.
Among some other commissions and personal projects, in the past few years my work has been primarily focused on documenting weddings. This work has been awarded many prizes and featured in a variety of print and web publications, but most importantly enabled me to meet authentic, generous, open-minded people and discover fascinating, interesting places.
My source of inspiration for photographic work has always been literature, music, cinema and personal experiences. I approach wedding photography in the same poetic fashion. For me to photograph a wedding is to photograph life – with all of its unscripted, unspoken, in-between moments. It is this philosophy that enables me to see and approach each wedding with a fresh, open-minded eye and stray from falling into a trap of shooting a wedding in a cliché, banal, impersonal fashion.
I give a piece of myself every time I photograph.
My experience also tells me that the significance of authentic photographs to memory becomes increasingly important overtime as an expression of sentimental closeness and invaluable part of family archives.
