Fours years ago today, on a beach of Tulum, I have witnessed a traditional Mayan wedding ceremony full of magic and mysticism. Amidst the sacred smoke from the Copal tree, we all stood there barefoot surrounding the bride, the groom and the altar, built of flowers and traditional offerings to Gods – corn, beans, rice, fruit. The offerings were to represent the gifts of prosperity and fertility. The Shaman was blowing the conch shell horn to evoke the four elements: water, earth, wind and fire, so that their presence may strengthen and bless the union for many years.
Happy anniversary to these two beautiful beings who continue to roam the world and inspire me and others around them.
